ANKARA, 20 August 2015: The visiting delegation from the Government of Punjab, led by Minister for Mines & Minerals Mr. Sher Ali Khan, continued its high-level contacts on the second day of its visit to Turkey today.
The delegation had a detailed meeting with Turkish Minister for Forestry and Water Management Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu in Ankara this morning. The Turkish Minister assured all possible support for increased Turkish investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. He also offered Turkish expertise in water management, flood control and afforestation. The visiting Minister, Mr. Sher Ali Khan, thanked him for the efforts to encourage Turkish companies to take advantage of the vast investment opportunities in Pakistan. The two sides agreed on a number of specific measures to deepen bilateral collaboration in the fields of hydel power generation and forestry.
Later, the delegation participated in an interactive session with Turkish private sector representatives, organized by the Turkish Contractors Association (TCA). Leading Turkish construction and energy companies including STFA, Limak, Nurol, GAMA, Dorçe, Kalyon, Enka, Eser, Renassisance Infrastructure, Usluel, and Dolsar were represented. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sher Ali Khan and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood underlined the commitment of the leadership in both countries to forge a strong bilateral partnership and highlighted the conducive environment in Pakistan for deeper engagement by the Turkish companies.
Detailed presentations on investment opportunities in the mining and power sectors in Punjab were made by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Jehanzeb Khan and Secretary Mining Dr. Arshad Mahmood. The session was followed by B2B interaction with Turkish companies, who showed keen interest in both these sectors.
The Pakistani delegation also visited the State Hydraulic Works (DSI) and met with Director General Mr. Ali Riza Diniz and other senior officials.
