ANKARA, 20 March 2012: The Pakistan Cultural Week was formally launched Monday evening with an exclusive photo exhibition titled ‘Journey of Friendship’ held at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara. The exhibition was jointly opened by the Turkish Foreign Secretary Mr. Feridun Sinirlioğlu and Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat.
The Turkish Foreign Secretary in his address recalled the generous support of the people of Sub-Continent for the Turkish War of Independence. He said high level visits between the two countries cemented friendly relations between the two countries. These relations are further strengthened through close economic interaction, he added.
Ambassador Haroon in his address highlighted that the main purpose of the Cultural Week titled ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan,’ was to further strengthen the existing bonds of friendship between the people of Pakistan and Turkey. Ambassador Haroon said we have excellent brotherly relations with Turkey and stressed upon the need of more cultural activities which will further strengthen understanding of each other cultures and shall also result in creating economic partnerships. He thanked the Turkish Foreign office for its support in the organization of the exhibition.
The photo exhibition consists of 78 photographs depicting historical relations between the two countries. It includes photograph of Quaid-e-Azam’s meeting with the first Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan during credentials ceremony held on 4 March 1948 at Karachi, besides other state level visits. This photographic exhibition will also be on display during National Day reception of Pakistan on 23rd March.
