ISTANBUL, 23 January 2021: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi jointly performed the “Welding Ceremony” of the third of the four MILGEM Ada class corvette for Pakistan Navy at a graceful ceremony in Istanbul.
Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop, Minister of National Defence of Turkey Hulusi Akar, Chief of Turkish General Staff General Yaşar Guler, Commander of Turkish Naval Forces Admiral Adnan Ozbal, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony that also included launching of 1st Turkish Navy Istanbul Class frigate.
While addressing guests at the ceremony, President Erdogan said Pakistan is our brotherly country with whom Turkey enjoys excellent relations. He underscored that the defence collaboration for the construction of MILGEM class warships is another milestone in Turkey-Pakistan defence ties. President Erdogan said both Pakistan and Turkey are living in difficult geographies and both countries are facing similar challenges. He highlighted that Turkey would continue to support friendly and allied countries in the defence field.
While referring to his last year’s Pakistan visit, President Erdogan said the two countries signed a Strategic Economic Framework that would provide the necessary institutional framework to further enhance bilateral ties.
All Turkish dignitaries who spoke at the ceremony hailed exemplary Pakistan-Turkey brotherly relations. They also reiterated Turkey’s support to Pakistan on the core issues of its national interest.
Later, President Erdogan, Ambassador Syrus Qazi and other dignitaries jointly performed the “Welding Ceremony” of the 3rd Milgem corvette.
Under the project, 4 corvettes are being built, two in Turkey and two in Pakistan. This prestigious project embodies transfer of technology as well as upgrade of Karachi Shipyard. Addition of the stealthy frigates to the Pakistan Navy would further augment its defence capabilities.

İSTANBUL, 23 Ocak 2021: Türk Cumhurbaşkanı Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ve Pakistan Büyükelçisi Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi bugün birlikte İstanbul’da düzenlenen güzel bir törende Pakistan Donanması’nın dört MİLGEM Ada sınıfı korvetinin üçüncüsünün "İlk Kaynak Atma" törenini gerçekleştirdiler.
Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi Başkanı Mustafa Şentop, Türkiye Milli Savunma Bakanı Hulusi Akar, Türk Genelkurmay Başkanı Orgeneral Yaşar Güler, Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri Komutanı Oramiral Adnan Özbal ve diğer saygıdeğer konuklar aynı zamanda Türk Donanması’nın 1. İstanbul Sınıfı Firkateyninin de açılışını içeren törene katıldı.
Törendeki misafirlere hitap ederken, Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan Pakistan’ın kardeş ülkemiz olduğunu ve Türkiye ile mükemmel ilişkilerin keyfini çıkardığını söyledi. MİLGEM sınıfı savaş gemilerinin inşaatındaki savunma işbirliğimizin Türkiye-Pakistan savunma bağları için yeni bir kilometre taşı olduğunu belirtti. Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan hem Pakistan hem de Türkiye’nin zor coğrafyalarda yaşadığını ve her iki ülkenin de benzer zorluklarla karşı karşıya olduğunu söyledi. Türkiye’nin savunma alanında dost ve müttefik ülkeleri desteklemeye devam edeceğini vurguladı.
Geçen seneki Pakistan ziyaretine değinen Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, iki ülkenin ikili bağlarımızı daha da geliştirmek için gerekli kurumsal çerçeveyi sağlayacak olan bir Stratejik Ekonomik Çerçeve Anlaşmasını da imzaladığını belirtti.
Törende konuşan tüm saygıdeğer Türk konuklar örnek Pakistan-Türkiye kardeşlik ilişkilerini övdüler. Kendileri ayrıca önemli ulusal çıkar meselelerinde Türkiye’nin Pakistan’a desteğini yeniden teyit ettiler.
Sonrasında, Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, Büyükelçi Syrus Qazi ve saygıdeğer konuklar 3. Milgem Korvetinin "İlk Kaynak Atma Törenini" birlikte gerçekleştirdiler.
Bu proje altında, 4 korvet inşa edilmektedir, ikisi Türkiye’de ikisi Pakistan’da olmak üzere. Bu prestijli proje teknoloji transferinin yanı sıra Karaçi Tersanesinin modernizasyonunu da içermektedir. Pakistan Donanmasına radarlarda görünmeyen firkateynlerin katılması onun savunma kapasitesini daha da arttıracaktır.
