ANKARA, 13 August: A photography exhibition titled “Colours of Pakistan – Seen Through the Eyes of Turks” was launched today in Ankara. The Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara has organized this exhibition in collaboration with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Anadolu Agency, as part of Pakistan’s 74th Independence Day celebrations.
Mr. Metin Mutanoğlu, Editor in Chief and Deputy Director General of Anadolu Agency was the guest of honour at the inauguration ceremony. A large number of Turkish dignitaries, members of Pakistan community and general public attended the opening ceremony.
Addressing guests at the launching ceremony, Metin Mutanoğlu said brotherly Pakistan-Turkey are deeply rooted in history and we are One Nation – Two States. “We consider Pakistan our second home and we learnt Jeevay Pakistan and love for Pakistan since our childhood,” said Mr. Metin. Re-assuring his support for more such exhibitions, he appreciated holding of the exhibition, which will help in promoting our bilateral cultural ties. He also lauded the artistic talent of Turkish photographers for their excellent efforts to introduce Pakistan to Turkey through their photographs.
In his remarks on the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi stated that Pakistan-Turkey efforts were underway to further promote the excellent political ties and strong economic partnership between Pakistan and Turkey. The Ambassador hoped that by holding the photography exhibition, bilateral cultural collaboration and people-to-people exchanges would be further strengthened. Commending the photographic works on display, he said the photographers’ observant eyes had captured remarkable images of Pakistan. Ambassador Qazi said these exhibits illustrated the natural beauty of Pakistan, the vibrancy of its people, and the diversity and richness of its culture.
Both the participating photographers in their remarks termed Pakistan as a ‘heaven for photographers’ with rich culture, beautiful landscape, immense natural beauty and above all hospitable people.
The Exhibition consists of 52 photographs featuring the works of Mr Metin Aktaş, photo reporter of Anadolu Agency and Mr. Ismet Keten, renowned calligrapher, animator and photographer. Photographs from the rich archives of Anadolu Agency as well as some Pakistani artists also forms part of the exhibition. The Exhibition will continue till 20 August at the Metro Sanat Galerisi, Kızılay, Ankara. Exhibition venue is one of the busiest places in Ankara and thousands of people will have the opportunity to visit the weeklong exhibition.
