Chief Minister Punjab Muhammed Shehbaz Sharif met with the highest leadership in Turkey as he visited Istanbul from 25-27 August for reaffirming Pakistan’s strong support and solidarity in the aftermath of the coup attempt of July 15. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Provincial Law Minister, Members of Parliament, and senior officials.

ANKARA, August 18: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the All Parties Parliamentary Delegation, led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, at the Presidential Palace today. The meeting lasted for 90 minutes.
An 8-member Pakistan All Parties Parliamentary delegation led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed arrived here today to express solidarity with the Parliament of Turkey, in the aftermath of the abortive coup attempt of July 15.
The 70th Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated today in Ankara with traditional fervor. The Ambassador of Pakistan, Sohail Mahmood, hoisted the national flag on the tune of national anthem in presence of the Pakistani community, students, Turkish guests and Embassy officials and their families.
The third round of Pakistan-Turkey Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations was held at the Ministry of Economy, Ankara, from 25-27 July 2016. Mrs. Robina Athar, Additional Secretary (Trade Diplomacy), Ministry of Commerce, led the Pakistan delegation, comprising officials of Ministry of Commerce, Board of Investment and Federal Board of Revenue. The Turkish side was led by Mr. Husnu Dilemre, Deputy Undersecretary, Ministry of Economy, Government of Turkey.
While condemning the recent spate of violence and oppression unleashed by the security forces in the Indian Occupied Kashmir, Turkey’s traditional support for the just cause of Kashmir has been strongly reaffirmed. Turkish dignitaries and Speakers at a vigil organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara on Friday reiterated Turkey’s abiding commitment in this regard
In order to protest against the atrocities committed against the people of Occupied Kashmir and to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people, the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara observed “Black day” today. All officers and staff wore ‘black armbands.’

Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday strongly condemned the attempt to undermine democracy by a failed coup in Turkey and reaffirmed full support to its democratic institutions.
On the joint proposal of Pakistan and Turkey, the 68th United Nations General Assembly declared the year 2016 as the “International Year of Pulses (IYP).” The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been nominated to facilitate the implementation of the Year in collaboration with Governments, relevant organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, today signed the condolence book opened at the Embassy of Turkey in memory of the victim of terrorist attack at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. He noted the following:
It is with deep anguish and pain that we have learnt about the terrorist attack at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. Reports indicate multiple explosions and gunfire, resulting in the loss of over 35 precious lives. There are also reports of more than 140 injured.
